Terve! Mitä kuluu?? So I'm pretty sure this is week 5..... The days all kinda run together, but the point is that I am more than halfway to Finland! Its been ANOTHER amazing week at the MTC and I feel so blessed to be able to learn and grow. Thank you for all the love and support and letters! I truly love each and everyone of you and pray for your health and safety each day! Some fun things that happened this week were:
1) Word of the Week: Rakentaako. Sounds like rockin taco. So a little backstory. On Saturdays we have a four hour class block were we sit and learn and get headaches and a lot of times nod off :P But this Saturday we were split the sisters (Just me and my comp) and our teacher Sister Ross and we were REALLY tired! We just started to randomly laugh and as we were trying to stop, Sister Ross all of a sudden says this word that sounds like rockin taco and we just lost it. We laughed until we were all crying and then Sister Ross told us it meant " Does he build" and we stopped laughing because once you know the meaning its not as funny.
2) Getting a bunch of Disney song lyrics from my mom! Its a tradition of 5 weeks to sing every night before bed and we were tired of awkwardly making up words. So thanks Momma!
3) Getting pictures of my new baby nephew Daniel! Hes a stud!
4) Eating chicken cordon bleu for the 5th time since arriving at the MTC! Its gotten pretty old. But of course I eat it anyway.
5) Telling all of my District that one of our Elders biffed it in the hallway and then making up a really funny story about how he was rolling on the floor and trying to get up but keeps falling....AND THEY ACTUALLY BELIEVE YOU!
6) Printing out 100 copies of page 33 and plastering all of the Danish missionaries classroom, then taking videos with their cameras
7) Temple waffles!
8) Getting BBQ pork sandwiches from Brother and Sister Gould who are in our Branch Presidency! THEY ROCK!
This week was so full of the Spirit! Every week is, but I am just amazed by how happy I feel even though I am learning a CRAZY complicated language, the food rotates about every 6 days and I'm pretty sure I have gained 10 pounds. But I get up everyday with a smile and I put on a skirt and go to class ready to be uplifted and taught more about this amazing gospel and how much our Heavenly Father loves His children ( That's us :) ). On Sunday after our devotional we are able to go watch different talks and this Sunday we saw Elder David A. Bednars talk " One by One" and HOLY COW! It isn't available to watch but Elder Bednar spoke on how the Lord knows us One by One. He knows us individually and perfectly. He gave several scriptural examples including the Parable of the Lost Sheep (Luke 15:4) , The Parable of the Coin (Luke 15: 8-10) and the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15: 11-24). In each parable Jesus Christ shares, he illustrates that even if only ONE sheep, or coin, or son is lost, the shepherd, or father will ALWAYS search high and low for that which has been lost. If you are not familiar with these stories, the things that are lost are us. And he is our Master, our Father and our Shepherd. Our Father in Heaven loves us so fully and completely that even if we are the only one lost, He will send us a Savior. He did send one. Jesus Christ Atoned for our sins. He has felt everything we have, do, or will feel. I have had so many moments here where I feel so alone and insignificant, but then I remember. He knows me and loves me and wants me to go in search of those lost so that they can feel the same hope and joy I feel. Everyone makes mistakes, but God doesn't care. He cares that we repent, and remember Him in all we do.
I'm so excited that I get to go two by two to teach one by one!!
Have a safe and wonderful week!
Rakastaa,
Sisar Phipps
